Yesterday S and I decided to go off for lunch in Marina Del Rey. Now, we never really think of celebrating Valentine's Day by ourselves, because it feels cheesy and silly and deprives me of laughing rights over pink and red hearts shaped out of all substances imaginable. So we always mark it as anti-Valentine's day and we get to have just as much fun without feeling particularly sheepish about it. We asked Em and Becca if they would join us for lunch and they declined so off we went. We ate at a nice Mexican restaurant by the waterfront and got to watch sailboats all the time, which was very nice. The area wasn't as lively as it could have been, considering that there is a splendid view of the marina. But then, it seems that this was pretty deliberate. There was limited parking and very short pathways. Actually I sort of like the fact that it seems to be restricted to those who do ocean sports (sailing, rowing, fishing, etc.). For a lively oceanside promenade, there's always Venice.
